Title: Head of Experimental Design
Company: Design Region Bergen
Torhild Torgersen is Head of Experimentation at Design Region Bergen (DRB). DRB brings 4 universities together to offer the Design Thinking program in collaboration. The future needs many disciplines working together to solve complex issues and find sustainable solutions. This is what DRB has facilitated.
This unprecedented collaboration has been a huge success, with executive students coming from different backgrounds - and bringing more innovative, cross-disciplinary and human centred approaches to the way companies, organisations and public offices work through the growing alumni group.
Before Torgersen started at DRB, at 20, she started the CISV International People’s project (IPP) at a refugee camp outside Bergen, where they had summer camps and year-round circus school for the kids both from the camp and from the Norwegian neighbourhood. At 24, Torgersen went to an IPP in Farafra, Egypt in the Sahara Desert, building houses for the poor in the small village and working with the women. In 2007, she visited the west bank of Palestine to understand the Palestine-Israeli conflict better and to see it all with my own eyes. Torgersen has also cofounded an Impact HUB (start up-space) for social entrepreneurs and ran her own small company “Skrible.”
As a founding member of FutureTalks, Torgersen will facilitate the interaction processes with delegates during the Arctic expedition to Svalbard - along with her co-facilitator Monica Hannestad, whom she loves to work with.
